The Will to Change

“You must be the change you want to see in the world.”     Gandhi            Human potential has no boundary, and as individuals we possess no limits except the limits that we impose on ourselves. I began abusing substances at the age of 13.  And my use would lead to the development of a debilitating addiction that would cause me to spiral down a path toward self-destruction.

In 2011, I was put out of school in 9th grade, and I found myself in front of a judge due to possessing narcotics on school property. When one takes a look at our current world, they will notice that with drug involvement comes varying degrees of violence. Pot is so “Harmless,” But I Couldn’t Stop

Hello,  my name is Ron Reis…no need to be anonymous here.  I’m not a parent, just a former pothead who would like to help others. I smoked pot almost every day for 27 years. Why? Because I could not stop.

Most of my friends quit before I did actually.  There are a few holdouts.  I was hooked for years.  Pot pretty much ruined a good portion of my life. I will never get it back.  I am a survivor.

Part 1 (We’ve divided this blog into 2 parts)  Any psychiatrist who dismisses the effect of drugs on your child’s condition — when there are illicit drugs, marijuana, or legal drugs obtained illegally — should probably be dismissed.  Insurance companies aren’t qualified to make this decision.  If you don’t want your child set on a track of permanent psychiatric treatment or condition, it’s wise to find a psychiatrist who is Board Certified in Addiction Psychiatry and Addiction Treatment. Mental Health Care Fails at Addiction Treatment

We’re facing a national tragedy of mental health misdiagnoses because American psychiatry is failing to treat root causes.  Too often young people with mental health symptoms are lumped into categories and given potent anti-depressants, benzodiazapines and/or neuroleptics, while the doctors or mental health treatment centers ignore symptoms of marijuana addiction and fail to treat the addiction.  In some cases, a psychotic episode is treated as bipolar disorder or schizophrenia rather than drug-induced psychosis.*
